Third Suspect in Hafizabad Gang-Rape Case Killed in Alleged Police Encounter

HAFIZABAD – The third suspect involved in the horrific gang-rape incident in Hafizabad has reportedly been killed in an alleged police encounter, Geo News reported on Sunday.

According to police officials, the incident occurred near Panch Pulla during a routine patrol. Police claim that unidentified assailants opened fire on a police van, and during the crossfire, the suspect was fatally shot — allegedly by his own accomplices.

This is the third suspect linked to the case who has died in such circumstances. Two other suspects were also killed earlier in what were described as separate police encounters. However, the main accused in the case remains at large.

The gang-rape incident, which occurred about a month ago, shocked the nation. Armed men reportedly assaulted a woman in front of her husband and filmed the act, later spreading the video online.

Human rights organizations and civil society have raised concerns over the rising trend of extrajudicial killings in sensitive criminal cases, demanding transparent investigations and due process of law.

As the primary suspect remains at large, the public continues to call for swift justice and systemic reforms to prevent such heinous crimes in the future.
