PTI’s Asad Qaiser Criticizes Government Over Senate Election Delay, Claims No Dialogue Despite Protest Announcement

Peshawar: Former National Assembly Speaker and senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser has strongly criticized the federal government, claiming that no effort was made to initiate dialogue with the party following its announcement of nationwide protests. Instead, he said, the government has further intensified pressure on PTI.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Qaiser demanded the immediate announcement of Senate elections and accused the authorities of deliberately delaying the process. “The province is being denied its constitutional rights. Tactics are being used to postpone the Senate polls, and a narrative has already been set about what the Supreme Court might decide,” he said.
He added that the delay in holding Senate elections is creating a constitutional crisis. “One province is being treated with such hostility that it isn’t even receiving its rightful funds. This kind of behavior has left the province without representation in the Senate,” he stated.
Qaiser slammed the Chief Election Commissioner, saying, “If he has any moral integrity, he should resign. He conducted the worst elections in history and has become the face of vote rigging.”
He went on to warn that the political crisis instigated by the Election Commission could have long-term consequences. “For two to three years, we were subjected to pressure, but the reality became clear on February 8,” he said, referring to the recent general elections.
Qaiser also said that the situation is slipping out of the government’s control not only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also in Balochistan, Sindh, Kashmir, and even Karachi. He stressed that the rule of law and respect for the constitution are essential for running the country. “The country is being turned into a banana republic. Serious reflection is needed before it’s too late,” he concluded.
