A Man Who Can Leave His Family Can Also Leave His Wife, Says Saba Faisal

Lahore: Veteran Pakistani actress Saba Faisal has shared important advice for newlyweds and girls preparing for marriage, warning that a man who is willing to abandon his parents, sisters, and brothers for his wife might one day leave his wife too.
Speaking during a recent appearance on Nida Yasir’s morning show, Saba Faisal offered practical guidance to young women entering into marriage. Drawing from her personal experiences, she stated that it is rare for men to drastically change after marriage and emphasized that most continue to value the likes and dislikes of their parents, especially their mothers.
She explained that while couples may experience a temporary phase of intense affection shortly after marriage, such feelings are often fleeting and should not be mistaken for permanent change.
“Marriage is like a sweet gamble,” she said. “Those who experience it sometimes regret it, and those who don’t also regret missing out. That’s why both men and women should approach it with caution.”
Highlighting the cultural dynamics of marriage in South Asian societies, the actress noted that marriage is not merely a union between two individuals, but a bond between two families. She stressed the importance of responsibility on both sides to nurture and sustain the relationship.
Saba Faisal pointed out that a woman steps into a completely new household post-marriage, often unaware of its dynamics, while the man bears the burden of balancing his original family with his new responsibilities.
She also urged women not to feel insecure if their husbands show respect towards their mothers, sisters, and other family members. “A man who respects his family is more likely to respect his wife too,” she said.
Reiterating her core message, she concluded, “If a man can leave his parents, sisters, and brothers for his wife, he can also leave his wife at any stage of life.”
