Speeding Vehicles Claim Lives of Two, Including Food Delivery Rider, in Karachi Road Accidents

Karachi: Two people lost their lives in separate road accidents caused by speeding vehicles in Karachi’s upscale areas of Defence and Teen Talwar. Among the deceased is a young food delivery rider.
According to police, the first incident occurred on Khayaban-e-Nishat in Defence where a speeding double-cabin vehicle struck a motorcycle, killing the rider on the spot. The victim, identified as Murtaza, was working for an online food delivery service.
DIG South Asad Raza confirmed that the driver of the double-cabin vehicle, Usman Shah Rashdi, was arrested at the scene and taken to Darakhshan Police Station along with the vehicle. Initial investigations suggest the driver was speeding and driving negligently at the time of the crash. Police sources revealed that Usman Shah Rashdi is the grandson of former DIG Pir Hassan Shah Rashdi.
In a separate incident near Teen Talwar, another speeding car hit a motorcycle, resulting in the immediate death of one person and severe injuries to another. The car driver was arrested on the spot along with the vehicle.
Police have contacted the families of the deceased to initiate legal proceedings and register formal complaints.
