Post-War Political Activity: Nawaz Sharif Holding Key Meetings at Jati Umrah Amid Party Mobilization Plans

Lahore:Following Pakistan’s military success in the recent conflict with India, former Prime Minister and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has returned to Lahore and resumed a busy political schedule at his residence in Jati Umrah, sources within the party revealed.
During the crucial dates of May 10 and 11, while Pakistan launched retaliatory strikes against India, Nawaz Sharif remained stationed at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad. After the conclusion of hostilities and what is being claimed as a “victory,” he moved back to Lahore.
According to PML-N insiders, Nawaz Sharif now primarily holds political meetings at two key locations in Jati Umrah. The house he resides in is referred to as the “PM House,” where he conducts high-level party discussions. The second venue is a specially designed conference room at **Sharif Medical City**, where meetings of the *Lahore Authority for Heritage Revival (LAHR)* are held. Former Walled City Authority DG Kamran Lashari attends these meetings and gives detailed briefings on heritage revival efforts.
In recent days, senior party figures including **Khawaja Asif**, **Khawaja Saad Rafique**, **Irfan Siddiqui**, and **Rana Sanaullah** met Nawaz Sharif at the PM House in Jati Umrah. These meetings briefed him on the national political landscape, ongoing legal developments regarding PTI Chairman Imran Khan, and media coverage of potential legal relief for the former premier.
Rana Sanaullah, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant, suggested that the party should initiate a **mass public mobilization campaign** in October or November. Nawaz Sharif responded positively, noting that the proposal would be considered further during upcoming consultations.
During one of the meetings, both Khawaja Asif and Saad Rafique congratulated Nawaz Sharif on the recent “victory” in the conflict, reinforcing party solidarity.
According to party sources, **Sunday is reserved as ‘Family Day’** for the Sharif family. No political or private meetings are scheduled on this day. In a long-standing tradition, **Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif** has lunch with his elder brother Nawaz Sharif every Sunday. These lunches are more than ceremonial, often involving in-depth discussions on national issues.
**Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz** also participates in these weekly meetings, where strategic political decisions and updates on the national situation are reviewed collectively.
The Jati Umrah compound, once again, has become the nerve center of PML-N’s political strategy and revival plans ahead of anticipated political shifts in the coming months.
