10 Afghan Migrants Killed by Iranian Border Guards, Claims Afghan Officials

*Taftan (Daily Qudrat)* — Afghan authorities have claimed that at least 10 Afghan nationals attempting to enter Iran were shot dead by Iranian border guards. According to foreign media, Mohammad Naseem Badri, spokesperson for the security command of Afghanistan’s western province Farah, told state radio that the victims had travelled to Iran in search of employment.
He stated that the group attempted to cross into Iran late Monday night through the Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi border point, where Iranian forces opened fire, killing them on the spot. All those killed were residents of Farah province and were crossing the border illegally.
Badri further revealed that two other members of the same group are still missing, and investigations are underway. Iran has so far issued no official response regarding the incident.
The tragedy comes amid increasing tensions along the Iran–Afghanistan border. Over the past year, Iran has forcibly deported hundreds of Afghan migrants attempting to enter its territory.
