Balochistan Levies Force Faces Major Financial Irregularities; PAC Orders Full Inquiry

**QUETTA (Qudrat Daily)** — The **Public Accounts Committee (PAC)** has raised serious concerns over **missing financial records and unauthorized expenditures** within the Balochistan Levies Force, calling for a **comprehensive inquiry** into the matter.

The meeting, chaired by **Asghar Ali Tarin**, was attended by PAC members **Zamrak Khan Achakzai, Ghulam Dastgir Badini, Wali Mohammad Noorzi**, Secretary Assembly **Tahir Shah Kakar**, DG Levies **Abdul Ghaffar Magsi**, Additional Secretaries **Siraj Lahri and Saeed Iqbal**, Director Audit Balochistan **Syed Qadeem Agha**, and Chief Accounts Officer **Syed Idris Agha**.

During the session, PAC noted that **responses from the Levies department on audit queries were not submitted on time**, expressing strong dissatisfaction and instructing immediate submission. Members demanded **full details of funding and expenditures from 2022 to date**, with budgets to be compared according to district size and operational area.

It was revealed that the **DG Levies office had opened an unauthorized bank account at National Bank, Shahrah-e-Iqbal, Quetta**, holding **PKR 13.969 million** that was not deposited into the government treasury by fiscal year-end. The PAC **ordered immediate closure of the account and transfer of funds to the treasury**.

Furthermore, **various zonal offices and the Khuzdar Training Center under the DG Levies failed to provide records of PKR 240.80 million in expenditures**, while **PKR 105.099 million was spent on vehicle fabrication and food procurement between 2019–2021 without any open tender**. PAC termed these actions as serious financial irregularities and **directed formal approval and auditing**.

The committee also expressed concern that, despite the **integration of Levies into the police**, recruitments have been carried out **only in Chaman and Dera Bugti**, leaving other districts’ vacancies unfilled. PAC has **summoned the department and Chief Secretary for clarification**.
