PESCO Offers Major Relief to Inactive Industries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR:The **Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO)** has approved a new relief package aimed at **reviving sick and closed industrial units** across **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa**. The initiative includes a convenient mechanism for the **restoration of disconnected electricity connections** for industrial consumers.

Under the new policy, PESCO has allowed the **outstanding dues of disconnected industrial connections—from 6 months to 10 years old—to be paid in 24 monthly installments**. Once the **first installment is paid**, the **electricity connection will be restored immediately**, in line with **NEPRA’s reconnection policy**.

This decision is intended to **boost industrial activity** and **enhance the company’s recovery ratio**, encouraging defaulting industrial units to resume operations without facing immediate financial burdens.

All relevant PESCO offices, including those at the sub-divisional level, have been instructed to ensure **awareness and implementation** of this initiative. However, approval from the **authorized competent authority** is mandatory before installments are granted.

### Key Terms of the Policy:

* Restoration follows **NEPRA’s reconnection policy**.
* **Post-dated cheques** and **one advance installment** are required at the time of reconnection.
* **Markup** on outstanding dues will be applicable, as determined by NEPRA, and must be paid with the first installment.
* Any industrial unit failing to pay monthly bills or installments after reconnection will have its electricity **disconnected without notice**.

The move is seen as a significant step to **revitalize the province’s struggling industrial sector** while ensuring consistent revenue for the power utility.
