Weekly Oil Output Stable, Gas Production Declines by 2% in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan’s **crude oil production** remained stable on a weekly basis, while **natural gas output saw a decline**, according to industry data and the **Pakistan Petroleum Information Service (PPIS)**.
For the week ending **May 16**, the country’s average **daily crude oil production** stood at **57,210 barrels**, slightly lower than the **57,368 barrels per day** recorded the previous week.
In contrast, **natural gas production** dropped by approximately **2%**, with average daily output recorded at **2,674 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD)**, down from **2,738 MMCFD** the week before.
Company-wise breakdown of **crude oil production** for the week ending May 16:
* **OGDCL (Oil & Gas Development Company Limited):** 27,533 barrels/day
* **PPL (Pakistan Petroleum Limited):** 8,327 barrels/day
* **POL (Pakistan Oilfields Limited):** 3,370 barrels/day
* **Mari Petroleum:** 1,019 barrels/day
For **natural gas production**:
* **OGDCL:** 564 MMCFD
* **PPL:** 392 MMCFD
* **POL:** 38 MMCFD
* **Mari Petroleum:** 844 MMCFD
The minor dip in oil output and more notable decline in gas production highlight the **ongoing challenges in the upstream energy sector**, including field depletion and infrastructure limitations. Energy experts suggest that investment in exploration and production is crucial to stabilize and potentially increase domestic output.
