No Threat to Pakistan as Arabian Sea Depression Moves Toward Indian Coast: PMD

KARACHI:According to the **Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD)**, a low-pressure system in the **east-central Arabian Sea** has intensified into a **depression**. The system is currently centered at **17.1°N latitude and 73.0°E longitude**, approximately **1,058 kilometers southeast of Karachi**.
The depression is tracking **eastward**, and forecasts suggest it is likely to make **landfall near the Konkan coast** in India’s **Maharashtra state** by **midday today**.
PMD officials have clarified that **there is no immediate threat** to any of Pakistan’s coastal regions from this system. However, **continuous monitoring** is underway, and the public will be promptly informed should there be any significant developments.
The department has urged citizens to **stay updated** through official channels and **avoid speculation**, as the weather system remains well outside Pakistan’s maritime zone for now.
