Educational Emergency in Khostdar Limited to Words as School’s Deterioration Threatens Students’ Futures

KHOSTDAR:The so-called educational emergency in Khostdar has remained nothing more than a mere slogan, as the state of the Suni Gundabi government school deteriorates. The school, located just 2-3 kilometers from the main road, has become a symbol of neglect, with its building in ruins and its educational environment under threat.

As the fifth month of the academic year draws to a close, the school’s teachers remain absent, leaving students’ futures in jeopardy. Local residents have expressed their frustration, stating that no teacher has attended the school since the beginning of the year. The absence of educators has left the students of Suni Gundabi without any proper schooling, while the school’s infrastructure continues to fall apart.

The school’s building has been looted, with windows and doors stolen, and its once-secure premises now frequented by drug addicts. The current state of the school reflects a complete collapse of the educational system in this part of Khostdar. Local residents say the situation is baffling, as the educational authorities seem unaware of the dire conditions at this government-run school.

“This is the condition of the government school in Suni Gundabi, located just a few kilometers from the main highway. It’s an area with hundreds of homes, but the education system here is being destroyed,” a community member remarked.

The school’s dilapidation is seen as a slap in the face of those claiming to have improved the education system in Khostdar. Drug addicts have turned the building into their haven, and without any supervision, the school’s infrastructure is rapidly deteriorating. “No government official has visited this school, and no teacher has reported for duty this year. If this is the state of a school in the city, one can only imagine the condition of schools in rural areas, where local elites have turned them into guesthouses,” another local resident added.

In light of the ongoing neglect, the people of Suni Gundabi have called on the Chief Minister of Balochistan, the Provincial Minister of Education, the Chief Secretary, the Commissioner of Kalat Division, and other relevant authorities to intervene. They demand immediate action to restart the educational process at the school and initiate disciplinary action against the absent teachers to prevent further destruction of the children’s future.

The residents urged the authorities to show mercy for the children of Suni Gundabi, saying, “Please, start the educational process in this school and save the future of these young students from further devastation.”
