WhatsApp to Introduce New Status Control Feature for Users with Forwarding Toggle

Global:WhatsApp, the world’s largest messaging platform owned by Meta, is preparing to roll out a new feature that will give users greater control over who can forward or reshare their status posts.
According to technology reports, WhatsApp will introduce a new “Forwarding Toggle” button that allows users to control whether their contacts can share their status updates with others. This new option will enable users to decide if anyone can forward or share their status.
The feature was first spotted in WhatsApp’s Android Beta version 2.25.16.16 and is expected to be rolled out globally in the coming weeks.
This feature will add a toggle switch to the status privacy settings. When turned off, the toggle will prevent your contacts from forwarding or resharing your status.
**How will the new ‘Status Forwarding’ feature work?**
Under the privacy menu, WhatsApp will introduce an “Allow Reshare” switch in the status settings. Once turned off, the forward icon will be removed from the status viewer’s screen.
With the “Allow Reshare” option enabled, any forwarded copies of your status will still protect your privacy by keeping your phone number and profile details hidden.
On the other hand, when the option is turned on, your contacts will be able to easily share your status within their own chats or status feeds.
This new feature is a significant update, as it expands on the previous control that only allowed users to manage who could view their status. Now, WhatsApp users will be able to specifically manage who can share their updates with others.
