CM Maryam Nawaz Pays Tribute to Armed Forces, Announces Major Development Projects in Faisalabad

Faisalabad: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid rich tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces for their resolute response to Indian aggression, stating that the same uniform that was once mocked is now proudly worn by brave soldiers defending the nation’s borders.
Speaking at the GC University Faisalabad during the Laptop and Meritorious Scholarship Phase II ceremony, Maryam Nawaz emphasized unity and patriotism, saying, “We didn’t just win a war, we secured the bright future of our nation.” She credited the historic victory to national unity and the strength of the country’s armed forces, asserting that had the people been divided and leadership not been united, such a triumph would not have been possible.
The Chief Minister warned students against divisive politics and urged them not to fall prey to hate-driven narratives. “Every step of our youth should be for the safety and progress of the nation. Institutions are ours, and so are the people. We must not fall into the trap of blind hatred,” she added.
Maryam Nawaz reiterated her faith in the youth, saying that the future of the country lies in their hands. “It’s not weapons but laptops that look good in students’ hands,” she said while reaffirming her commitment to expanding scholarships and laptop distributions. She congratulated students and their families on receiving the awards and reiterated that these were not favors but their rightful entitlements.
Highlighting past military achievements, she recalled how Pakistani forces downed Indian aircraft, including the much-touted Rafale jets, using JF-17 Thunder jets. “The same aircraft and personnel who were once doubted have now made the nation proud,” she remarked.
Recalling the nuclear tests of 1998, she praised her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, for taking a bold stand despite global pressure. “Nawaz Sharif was told not to respond with nuclear tests, but he said it was about the security and sovereignty of the homeland,” she said.
Maryam Nawaz also extended heartfelt appreciation to the injured soldiers and civilians of the recent conflict and paid tribute to the families of martyrs and war heroes. She conveyed congratulations from 12,000 students of Faisalabad to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief General Asim Munir, and Air Chief Zaheer Babar Sidhu.
In a significant announcement for the region, CM Maryam Nawaz revealed the launch of a Lahore-style development plan in Faisalabad. She confirmed that Metrobus and green electric buses would begin operations next year and that both urban and rural areas would be developed into model villages as part of the comprehensive plan.
The Chief Minister concluded by expressing pride in the spirit and passion of the youth, stating that they are the true heirs of the 10th and 28th of May, not the chaos of the 9th of May.
