Nawaz Sharif Praises Pakistan’s Response to Indian Aggression, Welcomes Ceasefire

PML-N President and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed gratitude to God for Pakistan’s successful defense, affirming that the country desires peace but knows how to defend itself.**

In a statement posted on social media, Nawaz Sharif said, *“Thanks to Almighty Allah for raising Pakistan’s stature. Pakistan is a peace-loving nation but is fully capable of defending itself.”* He congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir for their leadership, and extended his appreciation to Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and the Pakistan Armed Forces for their bravery.

This statement comes shortly after both India and Pakistan announced a **complete and immediate ceasefire**, following days of military escalation.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump also commented on the development, saying on social media that he was pleased to announce the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, which came after prolonged U.S. mediation efforts. *“Congratulations to both nations for using common sense and intelligence,”* Trump stated.

The conflict escalated after **India launched attacks on five locations** in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir on the night of May 6–7. In retaliation, Pakistan **shot down five Indian fighter jets** and launched precise strikes on several Indian air bases including **Udhampur, Adampur, and Pathankot**, destroying infrastructure before dawn on May 10.

Additionally, Pakistan reportedly carried out a **cyberattack on Maharashtra’s electric grid**, disrupting power, and jammed **India’s military satellite communications**. Pakistani drones were also seen conducting surveillance over several Indian cities, intensifying pressure on the Indian military.

Despite repeated warnings from Pakistan, India allegedly continued its aggressive actions, including drone and missile strikes targeting Pakistani air bases — prompting Pakistan’s decisive response.
