Asad Qaiser Criticizes Military Court Verdict Amid National Crisis

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser has strongly criticized the timing of a military court verdict, stating it was delivered on the very day Pakistan came under attack—a time when national unity was needed the most. Addressing the National Assembly, Qaiser emphasized that trying civilians in military courts is fundamentally unjust and unconstitutional.
He stated, “When Pakistan needed national solidarity the most, a divisive decision was handed down. The trial of civilians in military courts cannot be justified under any circumstances.”
Qaiser further claimed that PTI has always acted responsibly in times of national crisis. He alleged that PTI leaders were mistreated when they attempted to visit their imprisoned party founder, Imran Khan, despite having court orders permitting the meeting. He said even the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was denied access, despite a court directive.
He accused the government of deliberately undermining national unity. “The law minister promised to arrange a meeting with our leader. Is this not betrayal with the country?” he asked.
Qaiser reiterated that PTI is the largest political party in the country, and its founder Imran Khan, currently imprisoned, could be a potential target. He demanded Khan’s immediate release in the interest of national cohesion. “Even in a time of war, the government is shattering unity. No one has the right to divide the country,” he concluded.
