Supreme Court Dismisses Election Petition Against Nawab Aslam Raisani on Technical Grounds

Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has dismissed the election petition filed against JUI candidate Nawab Aslam Raisani from PB-37 (Mastung) on technical grounds, declaring it non-maintainable.
The petition was filed by PPP candidate Sardar Noor Ahmed Bangulzai, who alleged electoral fraud and requested a vote recount. However, a three-member bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed observed that the affidavit submitted with the petition was not properly attested according to legal requirements, and witness statements were also improperly attached.
The court maintained that previous Supreme Court rulings have established that an unverified affidavit renders an election petition inadmissible. As a result, the appeal was dismissed despite arguments from the petitioner’s counsel, who stressed the simplicity and importance of a recount.
