Quetta:Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders in Balochistan have reaffirmed the party’s commitment to fully participate in the upcoming local bodies elections in Quetta, expressing confidence that the city’s next mayor will be a dedicated PPP worker.

Speaking at a joint meeting of PPP candidates and workers for the Zarghoon Town local government elections—held at Lehri House Quetta—PPP leaders including Chief Organizer for Zarghoon Town and Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Mir Liaquat Lehri, Nooruddin Kakar, Shahjahan Gujar, Akhtar Baloch, Arbab Asad Ali Kasi, Altaf Gujar, Dar Muhammad Hazara, Syed Ayub Agha, Engineer Ehsanullah and others addressed the attendees.

The leaders said that local governments are the backbone of democracy and the PPP firmly believes in devolution of powers to the grassroots level. They recalled that during its previous term in government, the PPP transferred substantial administrative authority to lower tiers, producing positive results.

They noted that PPP performed strongly in previous local government elections across Balochistan, emerging as a significant political force in the province. For the upcoming December elections in Quetta, the party has formed organizer committees at the town level to supervise preparations, assist candidates and oversee the conduct of election campaigns.

The leaders announced that PPP will award tickets strictly on merit and, in coordination with allied parties, will contest the elections vigorously. They expressed full confidence that PPP would secure victory in Quetta’s local government polls and that the next mayor of Quetta would be from the Pakistan Peoples Party.

They further stated that the election schedule has been issued and the nomination process is currently underway. Party candidates were urged to submit their nomination papers promptly, and organizers have been instructed to provide all necessary guidance and support throughout the process.
