Karachi Squash Tournament: Egyptian Player Faces Possible Fine and Ban Over Misconduct Toward Referee

**Islamabad (Daily Qudrat):** An Egyptian squash player is facing the possibility of a fine and suspension after displaying inappropriate behavior toward a referee during the Karachi International Squash Tournament.

The incident occurred at the DHA Creek Club during a second-round match, where Egypt’s world No. 15 Fares Dessouky was playing against Pakistan’s world No. 38 and reigning World Under-23 Champion, Noor Zaman. Pakistani referee Sajjad Khan has formally reported the matter to the Professional Squash Association (PSA) following what he described as unsportsmanlike conduct.

According to officials, Dessouky objected strongly to the referee’s decision during the match and refused to accept the ruling. He also questioned the referee’s nationality, which further escalated tensions on the court.

In the third game, with Noor Zaman leading 7–3, the Egyptian player reacted angrily to a decision. Despite repeated warnings, he continued to argue, stepped off the court, and shouted in protest. As a result, the referee awarded the match to Noor Zaman by a 3–0 decision.

While leaving the court, Dessouky did shake hands with Noor Zaman.

Speaking after the match, Noor Zaman said that referees can make mistakes, but players must maintain discipline and respect. He expressed regret that the match ended in an inappropriate manner.
