Virat Kohli Felt Like an “Idiot” After His First Meeting with Anushka Sharma

Mumbai: Today, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are considered the “perfect couple” by many, but their love story began in an unexpectedly awkward moment. The cricket hero and the Bollywood beauty met for the first time during a commercial shoot, where Virat’s nervousness led to a rather embarrassing situation.
In an interview with American sports journalist Graham Bensinger, Virat shared the details of their first meeting. He admitted to being extremely nervous, particularly about the height difference between them. He had been told that Anushka might appear taller than him, which made him anxious.
In an attempt to break the ice, Virat jokingly said to Anushka, “Couldn’t you wear slightly higher heels?” This lighthearted comment, however, backfired terribly.
Virat recalled, “I was standing there completely nervous, not knowing how to start a conversation, so this just slipped out of my mouth.” Anushka’s response, however, was sharp and direct: “Excuse me?” It was at that moment that Virat realized his mistake. He admitted, laughing, “I felt like a complete idiot inside.”
Despite his awkwardness, Anushka exuded confidence during the shoot. Over time, that confidence and her personality led to a deep bond between the two, and they eventually fell in love. In December 2017, they tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in Italy, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
Since then, the couple has been blessed with two children. Their daughter, Vamika, was born in January 2021, and their son, Akay, was born in 2024. To protect their children from the media frenzy, Virat and Anushka recently made the decision to move to London, where they can enjoy a more private family life.
Interestingly, Anushka’s presence in Virat’s life has had a profound positive impact on his personality. In a recent interview, actress Sonal Chauhan praised Anushka, stating that she has been the “right woman” for Virat. Sonal also mentioned, “Virat is now exploring his spiritual side, and this positive change is proof that when you have the right people around you, your personality also shines brighter.”
