Security Forces Foil Infiltration Attempt from Afghanistan, Eliminate 54 Terrorists in North Waziristan

Rawalpindi – Pakistan’s security forces successfully thwarted a major infiltration attempt by foreign-backed militants from Afghanistan, killing 54 terrorists in a decisive operation near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan, the military’s media wing (ISPR) reported on Saturday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation took place on the nights of April 25-26 and April 26-27, 2025, in the Hassan Khel area. A large number of militants, referred to by the ISPR as “Khawarij,” attempted to enter Pakistan from across the border but were intercepted and eliminated by the alert and professionally equipped security forces.
The ISPR stated that the terrorists were attempting to launch major attacks inside Pakistan on the instructions of their “foreign masters.” Intelligence reports had already indicated possible incursions, prompting a swift and strategic response by Pakistani troops.
A significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the dead terrorists, the statement added.
“This is the highest number of Khawarij killed in a single operation in Pakistan’s ongoing fight against terrorism,” said the ISPR, highlighting the scale and success of the operation. The statement also pointed out the timing of the attack, suggesting a possible link with regional players aiming to destabilize Pakistan, particularly hinting at India’s role in shifting focus from internal security.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the armed forces for their professionalism and swift action, stating that the entire nation stands behind its security forces in the war against terrorism. He said the successful operation is proof that Pakistan is winning the war and that the resolve of the nation remains unshaken.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in a press conference in Islamabad, also confirmed the death of all 54 terrorists and revealed that the militants were encircled from three sides, ensuring no escape.
Pakistan’s armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to defending the nation’s borders and eradicating terrorism, vowing to continue such decisive operations to protect national sovereignty and peace.
