9 May Incident Cases: Adiala Jail Trial Cancelled Again; Court Sets Date for Indictment

Rawalpindi: The Anti-Terrorism Court heard cases related to the 9 May incident, during which the trial at Adiala Jail was once again cancelled. The court, however, set the date for the indictment in the cases.
The proceedings took place before Judge Amjad Ali Shah, where prominent figures such as opposition leader Omar Ayub, Sheikh Rashid, government prosecutors, and defense lawyers were present. Copies of the cases were distributed to the defendants.
The court set the date for the indictment of three cases related to the 9 May incident for 3 May, while orders were given to submit the investigation reports of the remaining 10 cases on the next scheduled hearing. The court adjourned the hearing of 13 cases until 3 May.
During the hearing, attendance was recorded for the founder-chairman of PTI, Imran Khan, and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, based on the judicial summons, while requests for the exemption of other defendants were approved.
Later, while speaking to the media, Sheikh Rashid commented on the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a sign of India’s arrogance. He added, “While Pakistan may have its internal issues, the entire nation stands united for the country’s security. The Pakistani people live for Pakistan and will sacrifice their lives for its safety. The nation stands as a solid wall for the security of Pakistan.”
