Federal Minister Ataullah Tarar Responds to Army Chief’s Speech, Criticizes Imran Khan’s Jail Conditions

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ataullah Tarar, has responded to Army Chief General Asim Munir’s recent speech, stating that the message is clear—there will be no compromise over the events of May 9. He emphasized that after the Army Chief’s address, it is now evident that Pakistan’s military is fully prepared to confront any threats posed by the nation’s enemies, particularly the handful of terrorists who will be wiped out without a trace.

Tarar stated, *“General Asim Munir is a professional soldier. His speech sent a strong message to Pakistan’s enemies, making it clear that the army is ready to fight terrorism and will not allow these elements any refuge. The enemies of the state, their facilitators, and those involved in the May 9 events have been given a clear warning—Pakistan is in safe hands.”*

Regarding the issue of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s detention, Tarar mentioned that Khan is receiving special privileges in jail, including regular meetings four times a week. He said, *“Imran Khan is not on vacation; he is in jail for corruption charges. Unlike ordinary prisoners, he is enjoying special treatment.”* He added that the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) party is currently divided into two factions—one led by Aliema Khan and the other by Bushra Bibi. He claimed that under Imran Khan’s leadership, the party failed to adopt any consistent or correct policies.

On political matters, Tarar stated that a committee has been formed under the leadership of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to strengthen ties and facilitate discussions with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The committee’s purpose is to promote political reconciliation and enhance parliamentary cooperation. He also mentioned that in the coming weeks, significant progress is expected on the Sukkur Motorway project, and development in Balochistan is being carried out in a way that doesn’t burden the public, asserting that any progress in Balochistan is a win for the whole of Pakistan.

Tarar’s comments underscore the government’s stance on national security, political stability, and its ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and inter-party relations.
