Toyota Leads Auto Sales Surge in Pakistan as Car Market Shows Strong Recovery in 2025

Pakistan’s automobile market is showing strong signs of recovery in 2025, with Toyota emerging as a top performer. According to the latest report by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), Toyota car sales in March 2025 reached 11,098 units — an 18% year-on-year increase, though slightly down by 8% compared to the previous month.
Overall, Toyota’s sales for the current year have reached 100,868 units, a significant 46% rise compared to 69,081 units sold in 2024. This performance marks a notable rebound in consumer demand and production output.
### Company-Wise Performance:
**1. Sazgar Engineering:**
Sazgar Engineering recorded a sharp increase in sales with 943 units sold in March 2025, marking an 87% year-on-year and 7% monthly increase. Total sales for March 2025 stood at 8,027 units, up 153% from 3,172 units in March 2024.
**2. Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC):**
PSMC experienced an 11% annual increase in overall vehicle sales for 2025, although sales dropped by 15% on a month-to-month basis. The company’s popular models such as Alto, Ravi, Swift, and Every continue to dominate the market.
**3. Indus Motor Company (INDU):**
INDU, the local assembler of Toyota vehicles, posted an 84% annual increase and a 20% monthly rise in sales, primarily due to the strong performance of the Corolla and Yaris models.
**4. Hyundai Nishat:**
Hyundai posted a 19% increase in annual sales, despite a 10% drop in March sales compared to the previous month.
**5. Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR):**
Honda faced challenges in 2025, with a 35% annual and 30% monthly decline in sales, reflecting a drop in demand or production constraints.
### Motorcycles, Rickshaws, and Commercial Vehicles:
Motorcycle and rickshaw sales saw a 34% annual increase, though they dipped 3% in March 2025. Total sales for the year reached 1,089,922 units, up by 31% year-on-year.
The tractor industry struggled significantly, with just 1,538 units sold in March — a 67% drop compared to last year. Overall tractor sales for 2025 have declined by 34%, totaling 23,230 units.
Truck and bus sales, on the other hand, rose by 47% year-on-year in March 2025, reaching 460 units. However, this was a 5% decrease from the previous month. Annual sales for this category have jumped to 3,365 units, up 80% from 1,869 units in 2024.

The automobile sector in Pakistan appears to be on a recovery path, buoyed by improved macroeconomic stability, better financing options, and increased consumer confidence. Toyota and Indus Motor Company are currently leading the charge, while companies like Honda face challenges in maintaining market share.
