Karachi: Sindh Home Minister Orders Arrests of Individuals Burning Vehicles

KARACHI: Sindh’s Home Minister, Zia Lanjar, has issued strict orders to the police to arrest individuals involved in setting vehicles on fire. The statement came after a series of protests and incidents involving the burning of vehicles in the city.
Lanjar expressed his condolences over the recent accidents involving dumpers and heavy vehicles, stating that those responsible for these accidents would be arrested. He made it clear that no one would be allowed to burn dumpers or heavy vehicles, emphasizing the importance of maintaining law and order in the city.
The Minister further assured that anyone attempting to disturb the peace or create terror in the city would be apprehended. “The police have been directed to arrest those involved in burning vehicles,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori conducted a late-night visit to various areas of the city. He acknowledged the public’s anger over deaths caused by heavy traffic but urged citizens not to engage in lawlessness. “While the anger over fatalities is justified, it is important that no one resorts to breaking the law,” he said. Governor Tessori further emphasized the need to uphold the rule of law and avoid inciting violence. “I am on the streets to ensure that people feel secure.”
It is important to note that in the past 99 days, 78 individuals have lost their lives in accidents involving heavy vehicles in Karachi. This year alone, traffic accidents have claimed the lives of 256 people. The city is grappling with growing concerns over road safety and the safety of pedestrians and drivers alike.
