Pakistan National Airline Reports Record Profit After 21 Years

In a remarkable achievement, Pakistan’s national airline has reported a net profit of 26.2 billion rupees for the year 2024, marking its first profit in 21 years. The airline’s operational profit stood at 9.3 billion rupees, with an operating margin of over 12%, comparable to the best airlines globally.

According to the airline’s spokesperson, this milestone comes after years of financial struggles, with the last reported profit occurring in 2003. The national carrier’s significant turnaround has been attributed to several key reforms, including restructuring, cost optimization, and improving workforce efficiency.

Minister for Defense and Aviation, Khawaja Asif, praised the airline’s performance, noting that the public had lost faith in the once-proud carrier. However, he credited the government’s stringent measures and policies for enabling the positive transformation.

Khawaja Asif further highlighted that the airline is now poised to benefit from privatization, which is expected to further enhance its financial performance. Under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, the government has implemented comprehensive reforms focusing on route optimization and financial discipline.

The impressive financial results have brought hope for the future of the airline, which now stands ready to leverage its financial recovery for sustained success.
