Chinese Company Enhances Development in Balochistan’s Sandak Region While Extracting Copper

Balochistan is rich in underground natural resources, with the Sandak area in the Chagai district being home to one of the most significant mining operations in the province. For the past 23 years, a Chinese company has been involved in copper mining at Sandak, transforming raw materials into finished products. This initiative is the first of its kind in Pakistan, where raw material is converted into 99.87% pure copper.

According to Chinese experts, over 340,000 tons of copper have been extracted from Sandak over the last two decades, with an additional 300,000 tons of copper reserves expected to be extracted in the next 15 years. The Chinese mining company has not only been extracting metals but has also been significantly contributing to the local community’s welfare for the past two decades.

As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the company has established a 25-bed hospital equipped with modern medical equipment, offering free treatment to local and nearby residents. Medicines are provided at half price. The company has also set up a high school in the area, where students receive quality education free of charge, including free books and transportation services. Furthermore, the company provides free electricity and water to six surrounding villages.

The report indicates that the company is constructing permanent homes for the local population and supplying them with annual rations at no cost. Thanks to the facilitation of the Sandak Integrated Facility Company (SIFC), the project’s performance has improved, and the company’s efforts to enhance the area’s prosperity have been significantly increased.
