Maulana Fazlur Rehman Says Nawaz Sharif Can Play Key Role in Current Political Situation

Islamabad:Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), stated that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif could play a significant role in the current political scenario.

Speaking to journalists in Islamabad, Maulana Fazl said that a meeting of the Consultative Council has been convened to discuss the political situation and to decide whether an alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) should be formed for the anti-government movement.

He mentioned that the real leadership of PTI is in jail, and there is a lack of unity within the party’s leadership outside. He also noted that the bitterness in relations with PTI had decreased.

The JUI-F leader added that despite any provocative statements, potential alliance with PTI would not be affected. He also said that if anyone speaks against him, PTI should take notice.

Maulana Fazl announced that a decision on launching the movement would be made after Eid, warning that if unilateral decisions were not halted, it would intensify the political situation in the country.

He also called for talks on the issues in Balochistan and expressed willingness to play a role in Afghanistan if the state requested it.

Furthermore, he reiterated that Nawaz Sharif could play an important role in the current political situation.
