Attack on Jaffar Express in Balochistan: 104 Hostages Rescued, 16 Militants Killed

Quetta:On Tuesday afternoon, unidentified armed individuals attacked the Jaffar Express, en route from Quetta to Peshawar, and took passengers hostage in Balochistan’s Sibi district. Since the attack, significant developments have unfolded.

Military sources in Pakistan have claimed that 104 passengers have been successfully rescued from the militants’ captivity, while 16 militants were killed during the operation. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group, has claimed responsibility for the attack and also reported the deaths of several security personnel.

Despite the attack occurring over 12 hours ago, military sources indicate that clearance operations are still ongoing, with additional troops being deployed. As of now, 80 of the passengers have safely reached Mach Railway Station, where they were provided with initial medical assistance. According to railway authorities, the train consisted of 9 carriages and carried over 400 passengers.

State Minister for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, confirmed that many passengers were taken by the militants from the train to a mountainous area. Security forces continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of the remaining passengers and neutralize any remaining threats.

The incident has sparked widespread concern over security in the region, and authorities have vowed to continue their efforts to restore peace and stability.
