Pakistan and IMF Hold Crucial Talks on Next Loan Installment

Islamabad: Negotiations between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are ongoing for the next installment of the loan program. According to sources, the discussions involve officials from the IMF, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

Sources revealed that the FBR has informed the IMF about its plan to address the 605 billion rupees tax shortfall. The plan outlines that no mini-budget will be introduced to bridge the gap.

To overcome the tax shortfall, the government intends to expedite the resolution of pending tax cases in courts. Additionally, the government has pledged full cooperation in resolving these cases. In this regard, the Chief Justice of Pakistan has approved the request to expedite the hearings of tax cases.
