Defence Minister Khawaja Asif Criticizes PTI for Hypocrisy and Damage to National Interests

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders of hypocrisy, alleging that they once called the Army Chief “father” but are now using foul language against him. He further emphasized that PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, had once sought to make former ISI Chief Faiz Hameed the Army Chief, desiring that the military become a subordinate institution of his party.

In an interview with state television, Khawaja Asif expressed concern about PTI’s behavior, claiming that after the party lost power, it was resorting to inflammatory rhetoric. He said that PTI was spreading vitriol on social media, targeting national institutions, which he argued was an insult to the country and its people. He emphasized that no conspiracy could harm Pakistan, asserting that the nation and its people were resilient in the face of such threats.

Khawaja Asif also accused PTI of orchestrating events like May 9 and November 26, which led to attacks on national property and disrespect towards martyrs’ memorials. He stated that PTI’s political agenda was driven solely by personal interests, with no concern for the country’s well-being. He said that PTI’s behavior was far from political and that the party had no genuine vision for the nation.

“The country is now on a path to stability,” he said, “and the economic successes being achieved have only increased PTI’s frustration.” He added that the party’s attempts to harm national interests for personal gains had been exposed.

The Defence Minister further noted that despite political setbacks, the current government had always maintained the dignity of the country. He recalled past incidents where the governments of Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto had been overthrown, but the country’s honor had been safeguarded.

“The PTI’s face has been exposed for all to see,” he concluded. “All attempts to undermine the country will fail, and the politics of chaos will be buried for good.”
