IMF Delegation Completes Visit to Pakistan, Returns After Key Discussions

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation has completed its visit to Pakistan and returned after holding important meetings with various government officials. The mission, led by the Secretary of the Cabinet Division, met with representatives from ministries such as Finance, Economic Affairs, Commerce, and Privatization.

During these meetings, the IMF team focused on recommendations to enhance governance and accountability. They also held discussions on financial monitoring and performance with officials from the Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU), where topics such as suspicious financial transactions and investigations were covered.

Furthermore, the delegation engaged in talks on measures to curb the financing of terrorism. The IMF team also met with the Auditor General of Pakistan, discussing the office’s operational procedures and raising questions regarding the implementation of PAC’s audit directives.

The visit focused on enhancing transparency in financial oversight and accountability, with policy decisions expected in the coming months based on the IMF’s recommendations.

It is noteworthy that during this visit, the IMF delegation also met with Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, and held discussions with legal professionals on Friday.
