Pakistan Railways Introduces Refund Policy for POS and Online Tickets

Islamabad:Pakistan Railways has introduced a new refund policy for tickets purchased at Point of Sale (POS) counters and online. According to the official notification, passengers who buy tickets at POS counters will be eligible for the following refund options:
– A 90% refund for cancellations made 48 hours prior to departure.
– An 80% refund for cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours before departure.
– A 70% refund for cancellations made within 24 hours of departure.
– A 50% refund for cancellations made within 2 hours of departure.
The new policy also addresses situations where trains are canceled or delayed by more than 6 hours. In such cases, passengers will be entitled to a full refund of their ticket price. To claim this refund, passengers must present their original ticket and a copy of their ID card at the POS counters.
For online ticket bookings, refunds will be processed digitally via the original counter service, following the same refund conditions as POS ticket cancellations, except for tickets canceled online after the train has departed.
The notification further stated that online tickets cannot be canceled when the train’s departure time is less than 1 hour and 30 minutes.
