PIA Salaries Delayed Amid Ongoing Financial Struggles

Karachi: Salary payments for employees of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for the month of April have been delayed due to financial difficulties faced by the national carrier.
According to sources, employees in Groups 1 to 8 received their salaries yesterday, while payments for officers in Group 9 and above are still pending.
Deputy General Managers, General Managers, and Directors have yet to receive their salaries, sources added.
The delay is reportedly linked to the airline’s continuing financial challenges despite its recent privatization process.
It is worth mentioning that the Arif Habib-led consortium acquired 60 percent shares of PIA in December 2025 after submitting the highest bid of Rs135 billion. Last month, the consortium reportedly paid an additional Rs45 billion for the remaining 25 percent shares, becoming the sole owner of the airline.
