Opposition Leaders Applaud Pakistan’s Role in Iran–US Ceasefire

Islamabad: Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating the recent United States–Iran ceasefire, calling it a historic achievement.
Addressing the National Assembly, Achakzai said, “Anyone who is not happy with this success must be crazy. We stand with the government—long live Pakistan, long live the Pakistan Army.” He emphasized that despite political differences, all leaders should unite in support of the country during such critical times.
He added that Pakistan is blessed with immense resources and should not seek charity, describing the ceasefire as a rare opportunity that must not be squandered. Achakzai also mentioned efforts to meet the founder of PTI in jail, underlining his popularity and cautioning against criminalizing political leadership.
Meanwhile, Aimal Wali Khan, President of the Awami National Party, addressed the Senate, calling the day historic for Pakistan. He applauded the government and Army Chief Asim Munir, saying Pakistan had demonstrated that dialogue between nations is essential and that war never benefits anyone.
Wali Khan expressed hope that the next eight to ten days would bring positive outcomes for Pakistan and highlighted the country’s message of peace, love, and brotherhood. He stressed that sustained efforts toward lasting peace are crucial for national progress.
