OGRA Launches Crackdown on Illegal LPG Cylinder and Bowser Manufacturers

Lahore:The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has initiated action against companies illegally manufacturing LPG cylinders and bowers under a single license in various cities of Pakistan. These revelations came to light following complaints from Irfan Khokhar, Chairman of the LPG Distributors Association in Lahore.

OGRA has summoned licensed companies and accused them of misusing their licenses for fraudulent activities. Companies in Lahore have been allegedly manufacturing LPG cylinders and bowers illegally in Karachi and Quetta, while companies in Karachi and Quetta have been involved in similar activities in various cities of Punjab.

Following the findings, OGRA has called all these licensed companies to its office in Lahore, where legal actions will be taken. Irfan Khokhar has confirmed that OGRA has committed to taking strict measures against these companies under new regulations.

Under the new laws, companies involved in illegal activities could face heavy fines exceeding one crore rupees and up to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment. Last month, OGRA had imposed a fine of five lakh rupees on five companies.

Khokhar further mentioned that the introduction of OGRA’s new regulations marks a significant step towards curbing illegal activities, with increased penalties and sentences to deter violations.
