Quetta:The Balochistan Health Department has initiated strict action following the closure of medical services at various hospitals and the unsatisfactory performance of several officials. As part of the action, responsible officers have been suspended, and show-cause notices have been issued, demanding clarification within two days.
According to Balochistan Government spokesperson Shahid Rand, departmental action has been initiated against several medical officers. Dr. Noorullah Musakhel, Medical Superintendent of Civil Sandiman Provincial Hospital Quetta, has been immediately suspended and relieved of his responsibilities as the Director General of Balochistan. Additionally, show-cause notices have been issued to Medical Superintendents of District Headquarters Hospitals in Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, and Chaman, instructing them to clarify their positions within two days.
The spokesperson further stated that if the responses are unsatisfactory or the clarifications are not deemed acceptable, strict action will be taken under the BEDA Act. District Health Officer for Qila Abdullah, Abdul Hadi, has been transferred and appointed as the Deputy Medical Superintendent at Civil Sandiman Hospital, Quetta. These actions will be implemented immediately.
On the other hand, Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakr expressed deep concern over the public’s difficulties, stressing that negligence in the medical sector is unacceptable. He noted that while the common man struggles to access treatment, OPD closures for personal gain are happening, which he termed as a punishable crime. Minister Kakr highlighted that the suspension of medical services poses severe risks to human lives, emphasizing that the directives from the Balochistan High Court must be followed as part of their constitutional and legal responsibility.
He reiterated that no issue is more important than human lives, and officials who receive salaries must fulfill their duties. Minister Kakr further stated that the health department cannot be left at the mercy of mafias, and the government will encourage good officers while taking strict action against those avoiding public service.
