Power Outages Persist in Quetta Despite Winter Season: Citizens Demand Immediate Action

Quetta:Even during the winter season, the public continues to face severe electricity outages, with no relief in sight. Without any prior notice, QESCO (Quetta Electric Supply Company) has been implementing power cuts in various areas of Quetta, including Liaquat Bazaar, Alamdar Road, Zarghoon Road, Joint Road, Spini Road, Saryab Road, Nawakali, Shahbaz Tann, Samungli Road, and their adjoining areas, for 6 to 10 hours daily.

Upon investigation, it was found that there is no ongoing work related to line shifting or repairs of poles in any of the affected areas. The actual reason behind these power outages, which has now come to light, appears to be QESCO officials’ focus on completing line losses.

Citizens have expressed their frustration and have urged the provincial government of Balochistan and the members of the provincial assembly from Quetta to intervene. Despite paying hefty electricity bills during the summer, the ongoing load shedding continues, and now, even in the cold winter months, life has become unbearable due to power cuts. Residents have demanded that QESCO immediately end the unjustified load shedding under the pretext of line losses, especially since they are regularly paying their bills on time.
