Dialogue, Diplomacy and Interfaith Harmony Essential for Global Peace, Regional Stability and Economic Development: Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi

Pakistan's emerging diplomatic role offers new opportunities for peace and economic cooperation; women's meaningful participation in decision-making and peacebuilding is essential, says Balochistan CM's Adviser

QUETTA: Adviser to the Balochistan Chief Minister on Women Development Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi has said that effective diplomacy, meaningful dialogue, peaceful resolution of conflicts and interfaith harmony are essential for achieving sustainable peace, economic stability and mutual cooperation amid the prevailing global and regional situation.

She said Pakistan’s emerging diplomatic role had the potential to create new opportunities for peace, stability and economic cooperation in the region. However, meaningful participation of all segments of society, particularly women, was essential for sustainable development.

She expressed these views while addressing a provincial conference held at Governor House Quetta on the theme, “Pakistan’s Emerging Role in Global Mediation, Strategic Diplomacy, Conflict Resolution and Promotion of Economic Activities in the Post-Marka-e-Haq Era.”

The conference was organised by the International Research Council for Religious Affairs (IRCRA), with financial support from the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and collaboration with the Centre of Excellence on Countering Violent Extremism Balochistan.

Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi said Pakistan’s diplomatic role had gained significance amid international conflicts, political tensions and economic challenges.

She observed that promoting confidence-building measures, negotiations and cooperation based on shared interests at the global and regional levels could help resolve conflicts while creating new opportunities for trade, investment and economic activities.

She emphasised that peace was not merely the absence of war or conflict but also the creation of a social environment in which people belonging to different religions, cultures and social backgrounds enjoyed equal rights, security and opportunities for development.

She said interfaith harmony, tolerance and mutual respect were fundamental pillars of a stable society. Promoting education, social awareness and constructive dialogue was essential to counter extremism and intolerance.

Women’s Role in Peacebuilding

The Adviser for Women Development highlighted the extraordinary importance of women’s participation in peacebuilding and conflict resolution.

She said women played a fundamental role not only in shaping families and society but also in promoting social harmony, tolerance, community-level dialogue and conflict prevention.

She stressed the need to provide women with adequate representation and opportunities in decision-making, diplomacy, peace negotiations and economic policymaking.

Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi said economic empowerment, education and employment opportunities strengthened women’s social standing while creating greater prospects for stability and development across society.

She particularly emphasised expanding women’s economic participation, skills development and access to business opportunities in underdeveloped areas, including Balochistan, describing these measures as essential for inclusive and sustainable development.

Terming the conference an important intellectual and academic initiative, she said such forums provided an opportunity to bring together diverse perspectives on global diplomacy, regional security, interfaith harmony and economic cooperation.

She expressed hope that the discussions and recommendations emerging from the conference would make a positive contribution towards promoting peace, stability, social inclusion and economic development in Pakistan.
