Suspected Fake Flu Vaccine Seized in Lahore, Two Suspects Arrested

LAHORE:Authorities have uncovered the sale of suspected counterfeit flu vaccines in Lahore, allegedly exploiting a shortage of influenza vaccines in the market.
Drug inspectors seized a suspected fake batch of Influvac during a raid conducted on a tip-off, while two suspects were arrested in connection with the case.
Citizens have been advised to purchase flu vaccines only from licensed pharmacies to avoid the risk of counterfeit or unsafe products.
The development comes amid an ongoing dispute over the prices of flu vaccines supplied by multinational pharmaceutical companies, which has affected their availability in Pakistan.
According to officials of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), the federal cabinet has not yet approved the price recommended by the authority for flu vaccines. The matter of determining the prices has been referred to the relevant committee for consideration.
The delay in resolving the pricing dispute has contributed to the unavailability of these vaccines in the country, raising concerns about public access to genuine flu vaccines.
