Chaman Residents Driven to Desperation Amid Unemployment and Crime, Says Sadiq Khan Achakzai

Quetta (Daily Qudrat) – **Sadiq Khan Achakzai**, central chairman of the Mazloom Awami Tehreek Pakistan, has raised serious concerns over the worsening situation in Chaman, citing **rampant unemployment, business closures, and lawlessness** that are pushing residents to desperation and even **suicide**.

Speaking at a meeting with party leaders and tribal elders at SK House, Achakzai said the district is effectively under the control of **criminal elements**, leaving citizens vulnerable and insecure. “Unemployment and extreme hardship are escalating day by day, yet the provincial government shows no concern for the people of Chaman,” he stated.

He added that the closure of businesses and lack of employment have created unbearable conditions for the populace. “People don’t even have access to two meals a day. The government, including the Balochistan Assembly, has remained a silent spectator while lawlessness and economic paralysis continue,” Achakzai remarked.

Warning the government, he said: “Do not force the Mazloom Awami Tehreek Pakistan onto the streets. Show seriousness in addressing this grave situation. If the government is incapable of providing jobs, reviving businesses, and maintaining law and order, it has no right to govern.”

Achakzai appealed to both the **federal and provincial governments** to intervene immediately, restore **employment and business opportunities**, and take steps to re-establish **peace and security** in Chaman. He emphasized that the citizens are suffering psychologically and physically due to the prevailing insecurity and economic distress.
