Barrister Gohar Rejects Reports of PTI Committees Being Sidelined in Decision-Making

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has strongly rejected reports claiming that the party’s Core Committee and Political Committee have been sidelined or removed from the decision-making process, describing the claims as baseless and fabricated.

In a statement, Barrister Gohar clarified that no meeting had been held to suspend or exclude the committees from party affairs. He said decisions within PTI continued to be made through consultation with the Core Committee and Political Committee.

He also rejected reports suggesting that the Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) alliance would be sidelined or that the party’s political consultations would be restricted to Opposition Leaders Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas.

According to Barrister Gohar, the Core Committee, Political Committee and Parliamentary Party are separate bodies, each with its own mandate and responsibilities. He explained that proposals are presented before the Parliamentary Party, which makes decisions concerning parliamentary affairs.

The PTI chairman reiterated that the party’s founder, Imran Khan, retains the ultimate authority to make final decisions. He said Imran Khan had delegated powers to the various committees, adding that decisions regarding plans B and C proposed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership, as well as access to and the release of the incarcerated party founder, would continue to be handled through established procedures.

Barrister Gohar’s clarification came in response to media reports claiming that PTI had decided to transfer central decision-making authority from its Core Committee and Political Committee to the Parliamentary Party, effectively rendering the two committees inactive.

Citing sources, the reports had also claimed that the TTAP alliance would become ineffective under a new political strategy, with future political and parliamentary consultations largely centred on opposition leaders Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas.

The reports further suggested that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership’s proposed plans B and C would no longer be awaited, while key decisions concerning immediate access to Imran Khan, the early release of imprisoned female party leaders, and the founder’s medical treatment would be taken at a meeting expected on October 27.

Barrister Gohar has now rejected these reports, maintaining that PTI’s decision-making structure remains unchanged and that the party continues to operate through its established committees and consultation mechanisms.
