Pakistan Railways Increases Train Fares After 20% Rise in Diesel Prices

Islamabad: Pakistan Railways has announced an increase in train fares following a 20% rise in diesel prices, according to a spokesperson for the department.
Under the revised fare structure, economy class fares have been increased by 5%, while AC class fares have gone up by 10%. The spokesperson said the railway department will bear the remaining additional operational costs of passenger train services.
The spokesperson also confirmed that freight train charges have been increased by 20%.
The new fare adjustments will take effect from March 9 and will apply to all passenger and freight train services. However, the decision will not apply to tickets that have already been booked before the announcement.
