Salman Akram Raja Responds to Demands for Apology Over “Snakes and Centipedes” Statement

ISLAMABAD (Qudrat Daily) – PTI’s internal political narrative, organisational reservations and statements by leaders on social media have sparked a new debate over the party’s internal affairs and defensive strategy.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Central Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has completely rejected the demands for an apology that emerged over his 21 October tweet and issued a clarification of his position, in which he made clear that the elements demanding an apology either failed to understand the actual text of the tweet or deliberately tried to give it a wrong political colour.

Salman Akram Raja said that his tweet had by no means levelled any allegation against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly or the party organisation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. All members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and organisational office-bearers are completely sincere and loyal to PTI founder Imran Khan, and there is no room for any doubt about them.
Taking his point further, he said that his 21 October statement was, in fact, given in the context of a possible external conspiracy rather than any internal disagreement, therefore there is absolutely no need for any kind of apology on this matter. However, external attacks on PTI’s internal discipline and unity have not yet ended, and the party needs to remain vigilant.
