Balochistan’s First Digital Media Policy a Major Step Towards Modern Communication: CM Bugti
QUETTA:Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that the launch of the province’s first-ever Digital Media Policy marks a significant step towards establishing a modern communication system.
In his message on World Development Information Day, the chief minister emphasized that timely and reliable public access to development-related information is essential for transparent governance and building public trust.
He said access to accurate information about development initiatives is a fundamental right of citizens, adding that the effective use of digital technology can help disseminate information about government measures and development projects more quickly.
Bugti said Balochistan’s first Digital Media Policy reflects the province’s efforts to align its communication system with the requirements of the modern era.
He noted that well-informed citizens can play an effective role in the development process and monitor government initiatives. The provision of authentic information, he added, helps strengthen public trust, institutional accountability and transparency.
The chief minister said digital media platforms could improve public awareness of development projects and welfare initiatives. He stressed the need to ensure that residents of remote areas of Balochistan also have access to development-related information.
He highlighted the importance of providing citizens with information about healthcare, education, employment and basic services, describing transparency in development projects and the effective use of public resources as essential elements of good governance.
Bugti said modern digital platforms could further strengthen communication between the government and the public.
He emphasized that development should not be measured solely by the completion of projects but also by the delivery of their benefits to the people.
The chief minister concluded that transparent information, public awareness and the effective use of modern technology are indispensable for achieving sustainable development.
