Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party Condemns Bombing in North Waziristan, Calls for Accountability of Those Who Resettled Militants

**Quetta:** The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkNAP) has strongly condemned the reported bombing by Pakistani jet aircraft and drones in the areas of Maskai and Esori of Mir Ali tehsil, North Waziristan, terming it a grave act of state oppression and a “declaration of war against the Pashtun people.”
In a central press release issued from the party’s secretariat, PkNAP stated that the airstrikes resulted in the martyrdom of innocent civilians and left dozens injured. The party described the incident as a serious violation of human rights and criticized what it called the continued targeting of unarmed and helpless civilians under the guise of counterterrorism operations.
The statement alleged that ongoing military operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in central Pashtunkhwa (former FATA), have failed to target militants and their hideouts, instead causing large-scale civilian casualties over the years. It claimed that hundreds of men, women, and children have been killed and thousands injured in jet and drone attacks, without any accountability or prosecution of those responsible.
PkNAP further alleged that militants, in whose name these operations are being carried out, were resettled in former FATA following the fall of Kabul under a planned policy. The party demanded accountability of those it held responsible for this policy, specifically naming former ISI chief Faiz Hameed, Barrister Saif, and other officials, and called for transparent action against them.
The party demanded the immediate establishment of full civilian supremacy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an end to aerial bombardments and collective punishment, and the adoption of genuine, effective, and targeted counterterrorism measures instead of punishing entire regions.
Warning of public backlash, the statement said the Pashtun people would not remain silent in the face of civilian deaths, destruction of homes, and loss of children’s lives. It added that if state policies are not immediately reviewed and airstrikes are not halted, the party reserves the right to launch strong public protests and democratic resistance through constitutional and political means.
PkNAP also called for independent and impartial investigations into all airstrikes in Waziristan and other Pashtun areas, immediate justice and compensation for the families of the deceased, proper medical treatment for the injured, and an end to what it described as the transformation of the Pashtun region into a permanent war zone.
