NADRA Issues Good News for Citizens Regarding CNIC Renewal

ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced that citizens can renew their Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) before their expiry dates without waiting for them to expire.
According to NADRA spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali, citizens whose identity cards are due to expire within the next one or two months can apply for renewal immediately. The renewed card will be treated as a new identity card.
The spokesperson clarified that citizens can renew their CNICs at any time before the expiry date, making it unnecessary to wait until the card expires to begin the renewal process.
NADRA has also advised citizens to update their digital identity cards available through the Pak ID mobile application after receiving their renewed physical CNICs.
To update the digital card, citizens should open the Pak ID app and tap on their digital identity card again. The latest version of the CNIC, featuring the updated expiry date, will then be downloaded to their mobile phones.
According to the spokesperson, refreshing or updating the application will also ensure that the digital identity card reflects the latest information on the renewed CNIC.
The facility is aimed at helping citizens renew their identity cards in advance and keep their digital identification records up to date.
