20 Districts of Balochistan Completely Deprived of Technical Education; Government Bent on Darkening Youth’s Future: Senator Jan Buledi

ISLAMABAD/QUETTA (Daily Quadrat Quetta) — National Party’s parliamentary leader in the Senate, Senator Jan Muhammad Buledi, has expressed concern over the state of technical education in Balochistan, saying that 20 of the province’s 41 districts have no technical education institution at all, while the government and relevant institutions have failed to meet the people’s needs.

During the Senate session, Senator Jan Muhammad Buledi sought details of the number of public and private technical institutions affiliated with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), the students enrolled in them and the scholarships provided. However, according to him, the relevant education department could not provide complete information.

According to the figures provided in the session, a total of 1,535 institutions are operating under NAVTTC across the country, including 792 in Punjab, 93 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 116 in Islamabad and only 93 in Balochistan. Of these 93 institutions in Balochistan, 47 are located in Quetta.

Senator Jan Muhammad Buledi recorded a strong protest over the failure to provide complete details and demanded that the matter be referred to the relevant committee. He said NAVTTC is not working effectively in Balochistan, while in the current circumstances special attention needs to be given to technical education.

He further said NAVTTC and the education department are not providing proper answers to parliamentary questions, while the education minister also does not give importance to Parliament and does not attend sessions to answer questions.

The National Party senator said Balochistan is being completely neglected in the education sector, which requires immediate action. He also stressed assessing the extent to which the scholarships provided under NAVTTC and the performance and results of the affiliated educational institutions are effective.

He made clear that questions on important issues related to technical education will be submitted again and full efforts will be made to improve the performance of the relevant institutions.
