Fawad Chaudhry Says Mineral Wealth Requires Foreign Investment, Not Just “Stories”

ISLAMABAD (Quadrat Daily) — Former federal minister Fawad Hussain Chaudhry has said that while Pakistanis have long read in their Pakistan Studies textbooks about mineral resources in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, attracting foreign companies to invest in extracting them is the only way to turn this wealth into reality.

In a post on X, Chaudhry said that if the minerals in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — which generations have studied in Pakistan Studies — are to be extracted and made marketable, the only path is to persuade companies from countries such as China, the United States, Canada, Australia and Korea to invest and enter into partnerships. Otherwise, he warned, “these are just stories” that will continue to be told to future generations.

In another tweet, Chaudhry said that “all these political orphans” have found a new toy in the shape of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and will keep playing with it until the toy breaks. He mocked a critic who suggested that since “even a loser can be elected,” delivery would follow, and another who was “excited” about development projects, asking where it was written that governor’s rule was needed for development. He said these “jokers” are bent on clashing with Imran Khan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In a further tweet on internal PTI issues, Chaudhry said that when Azam Swati and Shah Farman filed charge sheets against Suhail Afridi and Babar Swati over personal differences, Salman Raja took the correct position that this was not the time for disputes. But, he asked, “what sense does it make to declare half of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa parliamentary party traitors today?”
