LPG Prices Reach Rs500 per Kilogram in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

ISLAMABAD:Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices have surged to Rs500 per kilogram in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while rates in mountainous areas have reportedly reached Rs600 per kilogram.
Ir fan Khokhar, chairman of the LPG Distributors Association, said the officially fixed LPG price for October was Rs279 per kilogram. However, he claimed that consumers in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were being charged as much as Rs500 per kilogram.
He added that LPG prices had climbed to Rs600 per kilogram in mountainous regions, placing an additional financial burden on consumers.
Khokhar criticised the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), accusing it of remaining silent over what he described as billions of rupees in profiteering.
He urged the government to use the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) terminal to help control LPG prices and ensure the availability of gas at affordable rates.
The association chairman called for effective regulatory measures to curb excessive pricing and provide relief to consumers.
