Students and Government Employees May Get Three Consecutive Holidays in November

LAHORE: Students and government employees across Pakistan may get three consecutive holidays in November on the occasion of the birth anniversary of renowned poet and philosopher Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal, observed annually on November 9.
According to details, November 9 falls on a Monday this year. If the government declares a public holiday on the occasion of Iqbal Day, it would provide an extended weekend, combining the holiday with the regular Saturday and Sunday breaks.
Public Holiday Expected on Iqbal Day
Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal, one of the most prominent poets, thinkers and philosophers of the subcontinent, was born on November 9, 1877. His birth anniversary is commemorated in Pakistan as Iqbal Day in recognition of his contributions to literature, philosophy and the Pakistan Movement.
If a public holiday is officially announced for November 9, government offices will remain closed on Monday, while Saturday and Sunday will provide two additional days off for employees observing the regular weekend schedule.
Students May Also Enjoy Three-Day Break
Students may also benefit from the possible holiday, with educational institutions potentially remaining closed for three consecutive days from November 7 to 9.
The extended break would allow students to enjoy the weekend along with an additional day off on Monday. However, the final decision regarding school, college and university closures will depend on official notifications issued by the relevant government authorities or education departments.
Has the Government Officially Announced the Holidays?
No official confirmation of the three-day holiday arrangement has been established in the information provided. The possibility of consecutive holidays remains subject to the government’s formal announcement regarding Iqbal Day.
Students, parents and government employees are advised to wait for an official notification before making holiday plans.
If the public holiday on November 9 is formally approved, Saturday, November 7, Sunday, November 8, and Monday, November 9, could provide three consecutive days off for eligible employees and students.
